3D Design
Hand Sculpture
I started by drawing a 1:1 scale drawing of my hand in a position that could eventually be used as a jewelry dish. I modeled the hand in air dry clay, at 1:1 scale and let dry. The sculpture can be laid down or placed upright. Materials: air dry clay, water, sponge, and wooden sticks.

Foam Duck
Monopoly game piece made from floral foam using a subtractive technique. I drew the duck in 1:12 scale from 3 angles then cut away portions of the floral foam block to reveal the duck shape. Materials: floral foam, cutting tools, and sand paper

Armature
I created a 1:6 scale figure based on Celia Mae from the Monsters Inc movie, but changed by 20%. Instead of snakes, I made octopus tentacles. I sketched the character in a 1:6 scale and planned where the structural supports would go. Using wire, I made the skeleton, focusing on structural strength, gesture, and scale. Then I added plasticine clay to make the character and the octopus tentacles. Materials: wire, aluminum foil, plasticine clay, wire cutters, pliers, and wooden base.

Cardboard Lily Pad Chair
I sketched a 1:12 scale drawing of a functional chair in the form of a lily pad. I created a moquette of the lily pad from plain poster board in 1:12 scale. I translated the moquette into a life-size scale chair. The chair is supported by honeycomb cardboard on the inside. The cardboard was sliced halfway to create the rounded edges. Materials used: 4x8 sheets of cardboard, box cutters, hot glue, gummed paper tape. Height: 15in, Length: 7ft

Tape Shoe
Through the use of 1" masking tape, I created a tape shoe using flat shapes and planes to create the volume of the shoe. I started by making a 1:1 scale model of the shoe using paper and tape. Then, using my scale paper and tape model, I constructed the shoe entirely out of tape. Materials: Masking tape

Pipe Cleaner Vase
I recreated a vase and dried flowers into a 3D pipe cleaner model. Requirements: visit a local "dollar" store and spend no more than $15 for multiples of one specific item and create an installation located in your bedroom/dorm room out of multiples using everyday objects. Materials: pipe cleaners, hot glue

Wire Portrait
3d self-portrait using wire coat hangers To begin, I completed a blind contour drawing of my face with neck, and hair. Then, I used the lines as a guide to recreate them with wire. Requirements: minimum of three coat hangers but no more than five. Materials: wire hanger, wire cutters
